Make no mistake about it. We are at war. Every mother, father, and child; every business person, philanthropist, servant leader; the doctor, lawyer, school teacher, construction worker, stay-at-home mom, and fast-food fry cook; every follower of Christ, and even those who do not believe in Him at all…
Most Bible teachers will tell you that Jesus already won the war. He conquered death and the grave, and that’s certain (and more on that victory as we go), but either someone forgot to tell the enemy, or he’s throwing the biggest temper tantrum in history, knowing that his destruction is imminent. The war for us is far from over. We see it daily on the news, in the shows we watch, where we work, in our neighborhoods, in our homes, and we feel it in our hearts. We can either choose to fight and win or lie down and play dead. These are the only two choices. As Edmund Burke said, The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (and women) to do nothing. This book is about doing something, starting with ourselves and, as we go, taking that same something into the world to win the war for Christ.
Christopher has always been fascinated by the warrior class of Asian cultures. Every Sunday morning, he’d be glued to the TV, watching kung-fu movies and learning the warrior code while his grandmother, hands raised, shouted with the TV preachers in her den. Before long, he met the greatest warrior of all, King Jesus. Still, it would be many years, with many fights lost, before Christopher began to learn the way of the Christian Samurai. Even since fully surrendering to Christ, understanding the battle is in the spirit, and victory is assured, he regularly finds himself flat on his back, needing the Lord to pull him back to his feet (metaphorically speaking). Christopher has shared the love of Jesus worldwide for over 20 years, graduating from Bible College along the way and fighting the good fight of faith daily, and these are some of the lessons he’s learned in the process.
